It's back-to-school season, which means the coughs, colds, and germs are making their rounds again. And if you've ever found yourself searching for the perfect vitamin or supplement to keep your family healthy, I want to reframe how you think about supplements altogether.
The truth?
You can't out-supplement a poor nutritional foundation.
Supplements aren't meant to replace real food, hydration, movement, or healthy habits. They're meant to supplement what's already there and help fill the nutritional gaps that can be difficult to cover consistently.
In this episode, I'm sharing what I've learned about family nutrition, micronutrients, fruits and vegetables, whole-food supplements, and building healthy habits for kids since I first started researching children's nutrition in 2020.
I'm also sharing how walking through my own cancer diagnosis changed the way I think about nutrition and supplements. Healthy habits don't guarantee that sickness will never happen. But building a strong nutritional and fitness foundation gives us a simple way to care for the bodies God has given us.
In This Episode:
Why supplements should fill nutritional gaps, not replace healthy eating
The difference between focusing on macros and paying attention to micronutrients
How to build a simple nutrition foundation for your whole family
Why fruit and vegetable variety matters
How I think about whole-food supplements for myself and my kids
How our family makes supplementation work on a tight budget
You don't have to biohack your entire family's health.
Build the foundation first. Keep it simple. Then use supplements for what they were actually intended to do: supplement.
