New York, 1946. Jarvis appears to be haggling with a shady dealer near a rail yard, but the real objective is a rail car smuggling Howard Stark back into the country, complete with a pool table and music. Peggy hides Howard at her women's-only hotel via a laundry dumbwaiter, only for him to charm a woman into his hiding spot before she can even reach her floor. Howard hands Peggy a camera pin to inventory the recovered tech at the SSR, and once the film is developed, past a few of Howard's personal nudes, he points her toward what he claims is the most dangerous item: the Blitzkrieg Button, which he describes as a citywide blackout machine and asks her to swap for a replica. Tipped off by Jarvis's frantic ear-tugging on the drive over, Peggy presses the button herself and finds a vial of blood inside, later confirmed to be Steve's. She confronts Howard, throws him out, and hides the vial in her wall. Meanwhile, an assassin with a physics-defying Gatling pistol guns down his own men and tries to reach Peggy, only to be killed by her acrobatic neighbor. Elsewhere, Chief Dooley flies out to interrogate a condemned Nazi colonel, trading a false cyanide pill for a story about a beast-driven massacre at Finnau. The chapter closes as a Leviathan typewriter begins typing on its own.
