Jerry Colonna is the co-founder and CEO of the coaching company Reboot, a former venture capitalist known as the CEO Whisperer, and the author of Reboot and Reunion. Jerry Colonna believes that growing up is the real work of leadership, and that most of us spend years hiding the parts of ourselves we cut off to fit in. In this conversation, we explore the three months he spent behind a locked psychiatric door at 18, the chip on the shoulder that carried him from Brooklyn to the top of venture capital, the February morning in 2002 when the demons finally caught him, how meditation has allowed him to greet his demons as old friends, the question his therapist gave him that he still asks every client, and how Hulk and Thor turn out to be the same anger pointed in different directions.
