My Favorite Grave Robber

In the late 19th century, the growing demand for medical dissection fuel sparked a macabre, highly lucrative underground industry where no cemetery was sacred and no grave was safe. From the legendary resurrection man "Old Man Dead" William Cunningham prowling Cincinnati cemeteries, to St. Louis’s eccentric Ernst Doepke who dug up his own brother's remains, body snatchers preyed upon everyone from paupers in potter’s fields to the family of a former United States president. In this classic "From the Vault" episode of Southern Ghost Stories, the American Hauntstorian Allen Sircy unearths the strange, chilling history of American grave robbing, detailing the ingenious techniques, dark humor, and terrifying encounters behind the nation's most notorious resurrection men.
