Jay Leno on Surviving a 190 MPH Spin-Out in a Porsche Carrera GT

NOV 4, 202655 MIN

Description

Spike and Jay Leno sit down for a wide-open conversation covering the Audrain Concours, manual transmission supercars, a live Rolls-Royce Spectre giveaway, and whether Porsche's next hypercar should pack a flat-eight or a V10. Plus: Biden's 1967 Corvette, the White House burger that let Jay down, and the Carrera GT clutch that has humbled everyone who has touched it. ______________________________________________ Join us for the live Festivus episode and car show in LA! https://www.x1entertainment.com/scr-losangeles 🛠️ RaceDeck - Transform Your Garage Get 15% off garage flooring! https://RaceDeck.com/SCR 🫧 Meguiar's - 125 Years of Passion Premium products to clean, restore, and protect your vehicle https://meguiarsdirect.com/collections/new 🔵 BlueChew - Get Bricked Up with BlueChew Gold Buy 2 months of BlueChew Gold, get the 3rd month for FREE with code SPIKE911. The two kick things off with the Audrain Concours in Newport, where a golf cart chase involving military police somehow became a highlight. From there, the conversation moves into why Spike and Jay both believe internal combustion is not going anywhere, with manual transmission supercars making a quiet comeback at both boutique and mainstream automakers. Jay opens up about his decades-long friendship with President Biden, including a garage visit after the loss of Beau Biden and an infamous soggy White House burger. Biden showed up at the Concours with his grandson and his wedding-gift 1967 Corvette, which sends Spike and Jay into a debate about car show judging culture and the difference between checkbook collectors and the guy in Ohio who has babied the same car since high school. The Rolls-Royce Spectre review portion is unlike anything else on YouTube: the actual giveaway car rolls through the garage doors live on camera. Jay spec'd it black-on-black, identical to his personal Spectre, and shares the casino origin story of a 22-year-old security guard who won a Rolls-Royce and then immediately hit a million-dollar slot jackpot ten feet away. They cover Tesla's flying car claims (Jay is skeptical), the Jaguar rebrand reaction, the Cadillac Celestiq Jay actually came around on, and the ideal powertrain for Porsche's Mission S. Jay wants a flat-eight with an optional manual. Spike wants a naturally aspirated V10 like the Carrera GT. Jay also breaks down his 1971 Porsche 911 T, a Sepia Brown survivor he tracked down the old-school way. The Carrera GT clutch gets its own moment, as it should. Jay spun one at 190 mph at Talladega and somehow walked away clean. The car did too. _____________________________________________ 📧 To advertise with Spike’s Car Radio, contact Neon Tiger Media: [email protected] 🌐 or visit: https://scrpod.com/sponsor Produced by Skyview Entertainment & Q6 Media https://q6.media ______________________________________________ Timestamps: 00:00 - Introducing Jay Leno 05:28 - Why sports cars will always be ICE 08:15 - Running into Joe Biden at Audrian 15:10 - How to run a car show 22:04 - How to win Jay's Rolls-Royce Spectre 29:10 - Jay on the electric Ferrari and Jaguar 33:59 - Jay on the flying Tesla Roadster 26:17 - Why Jay loves the Porsche Mission S 41:40 - Jay and the Porsche Carrera GT 47:21 - Jay's 1971 Porsche 911 T 49:50 - The Jay Leno Rolls-Royce Spectre 53:26 - Jay's turbine Sheffield watch Learn more about your ad choices.
