Lea Matthews: "When We Forget We're Free" (Sermon for October 11, 2026)

OCT 11, 202616 MIN

Description

Dear Friends, I just read that researchers have found that we spend an average of only 47 seconds looking at a screen before shifting our attention elsewhere. That's down from two and a half minutes in 2004! It makes me wonder what has our attention these days, and how easily we lose sight of what matters most. Of course, our scriptures are full of people who lose the thread, too. People who forget what matters, what grounds them, and who they're called to be in relationship with. This Sunday, we'll meet some of them in the wilderness, as we wonder about our own relationship with the God who invites us into freedom from all that claims us, confines us, and diminishes us. It's just so dang easy to forget that invitation and give ourselves over to other things. We'll also gather around the communion table, where God's love and grace keep calling us back into relationship. I hope you'll join us. With love, Pastor Lea
