Description
Your stomach drops, your face gets hot, and all you can think is, “I cannot believe I just did that.” Embarrassment hits fast, and it can feel way bigger than the moment itself, like it rewrites how you see yourself. Today, we sit with that feeling honestly and talk about how to move through it without letting shame drive the rest of your day.
I share a story about a young man traveling abroad for the first time who gets warned about pickpockets in a packed subway. When someone bumps him, he’s sure his wallet is gone, so he grabs the guy’s coat and pulls it right out as the train doors close. The problem is, the wallet isn’t there and the whole scene becomes its own kind of public mess. It’s funny when you hear the ending, but it also nails what anxiety does in real time: it convinces us we’re in danger, pushes us into a rushed reaction, then leaves us feeling foolish afterward.
From there, we shift to what Scripture offers when you’re replaying your worst moment. We talk about how the disciples had their own embarrassing failures and misunderstandings, and how Jesus didn’t treat their awkwardness as disqualifying. Then we anchor in Isaiah 41:10, a powerful promise for fear, shame, and anxious spirals: God is with you, God strengthens you, and God helps you stand back up.
If you’ve been carrying embarrassment, regret, or that lingering “I can’t believe I said that,” come listen and breathe again. Subscribe to Starting Right with Danny Mac, share this with a friend who needs encouragement, and leave a review so more people can find hope for their mornings.
