In this episode, I’m sharing a personal experience that I hope helps anyone dealing with uncomfortable nighttime burping. Years ago, I would get into bed and spend the next hour or two burping, feeling uncomfortable, and wondering what was going on. When I asked my doctor, I was told it was “just hormonal,” which really wasn’t helpful.
Eventually, I realized that my late-night snack was contributing to the problem. After dinner, I would often have tea and toast with peanut butter and jam while watching a show with my husband. Once I moved that snack to immediately after dinner—and brushed my teeth right away—the nighttime burping stopped and my digestion and sleep improved.
I’m sharing the simple strategy that worked for me: finish eating after dinner, avoid adding another snack later in the evening, and find a routine that helps signal to your brain that the kitchen is closed. It may not be easy at first, but it made a big difference for me.[Attachment]
