Sunday Sermons

This sermon reframes the Ten Commandments not as rules meant to control us, but as gifts that challenge our deepest anxiety: the fear that there isn’t enough. Rooted in God’s deliverance of Israel, the commandments invite us out of scarcity and into trust that God’s abundance is greater than our lack, and that with God, we have more than enough.

Rev. Samantha Beach Kiley explores Jesus’ challenge to religious authority in Matthew 21:23–32 and the surprising freedom of being willing to change our minds. Following a “soft king” means staying soft enough to reconsider, admit when we’re wrong, and allow God to move the furniture around in us.

Rev. Justin Morgan explores Jesus’ parable of the workers in the vineyard and the scandal of a God whose generosity isn’t determined by what we’ve earned or deserve. In the kingdom of heaven, following Jesus isn’t the price we pay to receive the gift—following Jesus is the gift.

Rev. Justin Morgan explores Jesus’ difficult teaching on forgiveness in Matthew 18:21–35, reframing forgiveness as the economy that holds the community of God together. Forgiveness doesn’t erase the harm or eliminate consequences—it means deciding that what someone did to us will not become a debt we spend our lives trying to collect.

In Matthew 1:1–16, the genealogy of Jesus is filled with people we might not expect to find in the family tree of the Messiah—women and Gentiles, outsiders and rule breakers, saints and sinners. Rev. Tim Russell explores how these names aren't simply a record of where Jesus came from; they offer a glimpse of the kind of Messiah he will be.
