The Social Network and Shanghai Knights - Talking Pondo

Send us Fan Mail  In this episode, Marty gives Clif the movie The Social Network to watch and Clif gives Marty the movie Shanghai Knights to watch. Marty and Clif kick Season 5 off with a look back at a packed Season 4, some overdue listener mail, and then tackle a double feature that couldn’t be more different: Shanghai Knights and The Social Network. First up is Shanghai Knights, the follow-up to Shanghai Noon, with Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson heading to Victorian England. The guys get into the film’s questionable historical accuracy, its strange musical choices, and a comedy that doesn’t quite deliver the laughs. There’s plenty to discuss, but will this sequel land better than its predecessor? Then it’s time for The Social Network, David Fincher’s account of Facebook’s origins and the messy relationships behind its creation. Marty and Clif discuss Jesse Eisenberg’s Mark Zuckerberg, the fallout between Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin, the challenge of bringing the Winklevoss twins to life, and Trent Reznor’s memorable score. Along the way, Marty and Clif revisit some Season 4 highlights, including unexpected movie discoveries, guest appearances, films that were more fun to talk about than to watch, and listener mail. #TalkingPondo #FilmPodcast #MovieReview #ShanghaiKnights #TheSocialNetwork #JackieChan #DavidFincher Many thanks for listening and to all of our guests for joining us!
