Columbus Was Not A Villain

Description

Drop us a note about the podcast. Bad company corrupts good character, and that isn’t just a Bible verse to frame a sermon. It’s a warning that lands hard when you’re watching public disorder, broken families, and a culture that keeps lowering the bar for what counts as “normal.” We start by grounding ourselves in prayer, then move straight into Scripture that forces a choice: live like tomorrow you die, or live like Christ really rose from the dead. We spend time in 1 Corinthians 15 because the resurrection is not a soft, sentimental idea. It’s the reason we can face fear, resist sin, and keep going when our efforts feel small. Paul’s logic is direct: if there’s no resurrection, nothing matters. But if Jesus conquers death, then your obedience is not wasted, your suffering is not meaningless, and even the smallest faithful act counts in God’s economy. We also read Psalm 39 and Proverbs 21 to remember how brief life is, how limited human plans are, and why our only lasting hope has to be in the Lord. From there we zoom out to national memory and identity, including sacrifice in war, contested stories like Columbus Day through Columbus’s own words, and a hard look at the marriage deficit. With marriage rates collapsing and more young men opting out, we ask what incentives exist, what Scripture says about wisdom and household order, and what it means for the American future when the family stops functioning as the essential organizing unit.
