Faith, Marriage, And A Dark Age

Description

Drop us a note about the podcast. A brutal news story can either numb us or force us to ask better questions and I start there, with a case that highlights how quickly innocence can be exploited when people are vulnerable. From that sobering point, I shift to what I believe is the only solid ground: a Christian worldview that takes evil seriously, refuses to pretend safety is guaranteed, and insists that prayer is not performative but practical. If you’re carrying fear, anger, or exhaustion, I’m praying alongside you for calm, protection, and clarity. Then I go straight to the home. Genesis 2:24–25 paints marriage as a one-flesh covenant, not a casual agreement, and I challenge the way we often treat that relationship as optional. I talk about expectations in marriage, personal responsibility, and what it means to serve your spouse in ways that line up with Scripture. We also spend time in 2 Corinthians 8 on generosity, finishing what we started, and giving in proportion to what we have, followed by Psalm 49 as a blunt reminder that wealth cannot buy redemption or outrun death. The back half turns to memory and courage: reading names of people murdered on September 11, 2001, honoring Medal of Honor recipient Cornelius H. Charlton, and wrestling with how we talk about sacrifice in public history. I close with Winston Churchill’s “finest hour” warning as a lens for thinking about ideology, spiritual conflict, and what kind of future we leave our children.
