Honor Killing In Washington And A Biblical Warning For America

Drop us a note about the podcast. A man tells police he killed his wife because she “dishonored the family” and adds that where he came from, killing over suspected adultery is “common.” That single claim forces a confrontation with a question many people avoid: when evil gets labeled as culture, tradition, or progress, do we still have the courage to call it evil? We start with the reported Auburn, Washington murder and the idea of honor killings, then widen the lens to what the host believes America is risking when faith and moral clarity get replaced by ideologies that treat people like tools. From there, we pivot to the home and the heart. Song of Solomon’s “drink deeply of your love” becomes a challenge to modern Christian marriage, especially in a world packed with distractions that quietly steal our best attention from our spouse and family. Scripture then anchors the practical next steps: 2 Corinthians 9 on cheerful giving without pressure, Psalm 51 on repentance and a clean heart, and Proverbs 22 on how anger spreads through companionship. We also pause to remember victims of September 11 and highlight a Medal of Honor recipient, before landing on the core conviction of the American Soul Podcast: the best way to save America is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jonathan Edwards’ words from “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” drive home the urgency and the fragility of life, ending with a direct call to turn to Christ while there is time.
