When Comfort Makes Us Blind To Truth

Drop us a note about the podcast. Lukewarm is one of those words that sounds mild until you hear it the way Revelation 3 says it: neither hot nor cold, comfortable enough to feel “rich” while actually being blind to what matters. I start with the message to Laodicea and ask a question that gets personal fast: where have we gone passive, and what would earnest repentance look like right now? From there, I talk through something I saw in myself watching kids play sports. We can get fully invested, emotional, and loud for a game, then drift into quiet apathy about our relationship with Jesus Christ, our Christian marriage, and the choices that shape our communities and our nation. I connect that “lukewarm” warning to everyday priorities and to the temptation to dodge hard conversations by saying we “don’t want to talk about religion or politics.” I also read and reflect on several Scripture passages that press on obedience, spiritual warfare, humility, and boasting only in the Lord. Then I pivot to American Christian heritage, including the prayer that opened the first Continental Congress, and why that history challenges the modern claim that faith never belonged in public life. Along the way, I touch on remembering national tragedy and what happens when we forget the cost of evil and complacency.
