The Church of Eleven22

Why did Jesus have to die on the cross? In Matthew 26–27, we witness the trial, suffering and crucifixion of Jesus, the most pivotal moment in human history. From Peter's denial and Judas' betrayal to Pilate's decision to please the crowd, we see the consequences of sin and the cost of surrendering to Christ. Through the release of Barabbas, we see a picture of the gospel: the guilty are set free while the innocent takes their place. Jesus willingly endured the cross to pay the debt we could never pay ourselves. Because God is just, sin must be paid for. Because God is love, He made the payment on our behalf. The cross is the ultimate demonstration of God's justice, love and grace. Through the finished work of Jesus, we are offered forgiveness, freedom and eternal life. The question is no longer whether Jesus is worth following, but what will you do with Jesus who is called Christ? 📖 Scripture References:- Matthew 26:57–75- Matthew 27- John 18:28–38- Psalm 88:6–9, 18- Daniel 7- Galatians 1:10- John 21- Acts 16:27–28- Psalm 22- Isaiah 53- Romans 3:23–26- 2 Corinthians 5:21- Romans 10:13- John 1:29 📌 Supplemental Resources From This Week:• Full Service • Deepen Podcast• Matthew Season 7 The Church of Eleven22® is a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ. When Jesus was arrested, four different responses were on display: surrender, misguided obedience, betrayal and outright rejection. In this message from Matthew 26, Pastor Joby walks through the arrest of Jesus and the lives of Jesus, Peter, Judas and the soldiers. Each one forces us to ask the same question: which chair are we sitting in? Jesus wasn’t captured because He lost control. He willingly surrendered to the Father’s will and took another step toward the cross so that anyone who puts their faith in Him can go from death to life. 📌 Supplemental Resources From This Week:• Deepen Podcast• Testimony Video• This Week’s Full Service• Matthew Season 7 The Church of Eleven22® is a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ. Revival begins with repentance. In Luke 15, Jesus tells the story of two sons who are both far from the heart of their father. One runs to a distant country while the other stays home but is blinded by his own pride. Yet the invitation for both is the same: come home. In this message, Jennie Allen challenges us to throw off the sin and weight holding us back, bring what has been hidden into the light and believe the truth of the gospel: there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Whether you have wandered far or simply forgotten how desperately you need God, the Father is ready to welcome you home. Ready to discover your relationship with Jesus? In Matthew 26, Jesus moves closer to the cross, showing us what true surrender, obedience and faithfulness look like. From the Last Supper to the Garden of Gethsemane, we see that following Jesus is not about relying on our own strength, but trusting Him even when obedience is difficult. Through the failures of Judas, Peter and the disciples, we are reminded that our worst moments do not have the final word. Jesus remains faithful even when we fall short. As He prays, “Not as I will, but as You will,” Jesus shows us what it means to fully surrender to the Father and faithfully walk toward the cross. 📖 Scripture References:Matthew 26:17-46John 2:5Matthew 5:3John 13-17Revelation 19:6-9Romans 8:1Luke 9:23Galatians 2:20Mark 2:1-12John 14:6 Sermon Reference:Are You Sleeping in the Garden? - Saturated with Pastor Robbie Gallaty: https://youtu.be/MrF0BwBJdWc 📌 Supplemental Resources From This Week:• This Week’s Full Service• Deepen Podcast• Death to Life Intro• Matthew Season 7 The Church of Eleven22® is a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ. What happens to your faith when God doesn’t do what you think a good God should do? The gospel doesn’t promise a life without pain. It gives us hope in the middle of it. In 2 Samuel 12, David faces unimaginable loss and has a decision to make: will his pain cause him to stop seeking God, or lead him into deeper trust and surrender? Grace doesn’t disappear when pain enters our lives, and God’s character doesn’t change when our circumstances do.The gospel includes suffering, but it ends in resurrection. Because the tomb is empty, pain does not get the final word. 📌 Supplemental Resources:• Jason Shepperd 's Book• Saturated Night 4: Pastor Jason Shepperd• Saturated Night 4: Pastor Jason Shepperd (Full Service)• Saturated x Deepen Podcast with Pastor Jason Shepperd• Saturated 2026 The Church of Eleven22® is a movement for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ.
