Description
Caring for Creation Through Your Work
Scripture:
Genesis 2:15 — “The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.”
Devotional:
From the beginning, God called humanity not only to work the earth but to keep it—to cultivate and care for His creation. That stewardship continues today, and for many people, work is one of the primary ways they interact with the physical world God made.
This may be obvious in fields like agriculture, construction, engineering, healthcare, or environmental work. But even in offices, shops, and homes, your choices matter: how resources are used, what is wasted, how products are sourced, how you treat the spaces you occupy. Creation care is not a political trend; it’s a biblical responsibility.
You won’t fix global problems alone, but you can honor God in the sphere you influence. Thoughtful stewardship of materials, energy, and systems—even small changes—can reflect the heart of the Creator who declared His world “very good.”
Reflection Questions:
How does your work intersect with God’s physical creation—directly or indirectly?
Are there small but meaningful ways you could better “keep” and care for what He has made?
How might your view of creation change if you saw it more clearly as something entrusted, not owned?
Prayer:
Creator God, thank You for the world You made and entrusted to us. Show me how to care for creation within my work. Give me wisdom to use resources wisely and to reflect Your heart for what You have made. Amen.
