Description
Curling starts soon… and you haven't done much to prepare? Don't panic, you're not behind.
In this episode, I break down why the first game back after a break can feel harder than expected, even if you're generally active and fit. Curling has some very specific physical demands, from getting repeatedly into and out of the hack to holding a deep delivery position, brushing, balancing on the ice, and producing repeated bursts of effort throughout a game.
We'll cover:
Why curling can feel rough after time away
The physical demands that are specific to curling
What to prioritize in the weeks before you get back on the ice
How to build delivery, brushing, conditioning and movement capacity
How to gradually increase your workload without trying to cram everything in
What to do if you have 6, 4, 3 or only 2 weeks before curling starts
I also also introduce the Curling Kickstarter: a progressive 6-week program designed to help you transition back to curling after a break. With short 20–30 minute workouts, gym and low-equipment options, and three progressive phases: Wake Up, Build and Ready. You get a simple way to prepare for the specific demands of getting back on the ice.
The goal isn't to exhaust yourself before the season starts. It's to give your body the right exposure, build gradually, and help you feel ready when that first game arrives.
You are not behind. Start where you are, and build from there.
