This is the most misinterpreted marriage verse in the Bible: "Leave and cleave". In our modern times, we've read our own hyper-individualistic western culture into the Scriptures, and have completely missed the fact that the Bible itself disproves this very interpretation. We think that to leave and cleave means to almost completely separate from our birth family, probably move a few states away, and start fresh, basically. This is sooo unbiblical, and would have been suicide in biblical times.
