Description
On this episode of The Gerald Moore Jr. Show, I'm stepping into a space most men never enter publicly: the grief of a father who has lived through pregnancy and infant loss. I'm sharing my experience, my perspective, and my newly published book — Covering Her, Standing For Them: A Father's Guide Through Marriage, Fatherhood, and Grief — now available on Amazon.
But this conversation is bigger than my story.
Stillbirth. Infant mortality. Maternal mortality. These are not just statistics — they are names, they are families. In Franklin County, Ohio, Black mothers and Black babies are dying at rates that demand we stop and refuse to look away. We talk about mothers. But who is talking to the fathers? This episode is for him.
📌 IN THIS EPISODE:▶ My personal journey through stillbirth and infant loss▶ Stillbirth awareness from a father's perspective — the grief no one prepares men for▶ Infant & maternal mortality rates devastating Black communities in Franklin County▶ Why Black women are dying at disproportionate rates regardless of income or education▶ Miles Mission — the nonprofit our family co-founded from our own loss▶ A deep look at Covering Her, Standing For Them — what I wrote, why, and who it's for▶ To every father grieving in silence: you are not alone
⚠️ THE REALITY: Black infants in Ohio die at more than twice the rate of white infants. Franklin County consistently ranks among Ohio's most concerning counties for Black maternal and infant health outcomes. These are not accidents — they are the consequences of decades of healthcare inequity and a system that has not prioritized Black lives with the urgency this crisis demands.
📖 Covering Her, Standing For Them is written for the father still expected to lead while broken — for the husband who didn't know what to do with his own pain. If you've experienced stillbirth, infant loss, or pregnancy loss, this book was written for you.🔗 Get your copy on Amazon
🌿 Miles Mission is a Columbus-based nonprofit co-founded by our family supporting families navigating pregnancy and infant loss, led by Jennifer Bullock Moore, NBC4 Columbus anchor.🔗 Learn more about Miles Mission
