Description
On Thursday 22nd October 2026, Carl Munson’s Good Morning Portugal! news reports that fully electric vehicles hit a record nearly 50% of the monthly market in September (47.7%, or 9,338 registrations), with year-to-date sales up 49.1% to nearly 55,000 units.
A ban on shared electric scooters is expected in Lisbon by the end of the year.
Other headlines include Brussels hinting it may reassess the strategic status of the Covas do Barroso lithium project, the wealth of Portugal’s richest 10% nearly doubling in 15 years, former politicians’ lifetime pensions set to cost €10.2 million, and young Portuguese preferring to pay for Uber rather than drive under the influence.
Temperatures are dropping into autumn, with Lisbon at 21°C and Évora starting the day at 4°C.
