Lecture 11 | Ishmael Mocking Isaac: The Battle Between the Flesh and the Spirit

In this podcast episode, Kushman argues that the battle between flesh and Spirit traces back to Eden, where the serpent’s deception introduced self-reliance and religious legalism in contrast to God’s finished work and promise. He illustrates the recurring conflict between works of the flesh and faith in God’s promise, insisting that righteousness and eternal life come by grace through faith alone in Christ. Kushman urges believers to walk in the Spirit, reject legalism and secret-knowledge religion, and rest in the assurance that Jesus has already completed salvation.
