We Now Know How Sean Sweeney Will Unlock the Magic

On the 93rd episode of Hot Hand Theory, XJ and Geoff break down how Sean Sweeney is changing the Orlando Magic offense and why his approach could finally unlock Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner together. Last season, Orlando’s offense left a lot on the table. Paolo and Franz were often asked to create from difficult situations, the Magic struggled to generate advantages through screening and ball movement, and the team finished just 18th in offensive rating despite having one of the NBA’s most talented young cores. Now Sean Sweeney is already showing a different approach. Through Orlando’s preseason games, including the matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Magic have used more movement, ghost screens, and connected offense teasing how they will create easier opportunities for Paolo, Franz, Desmond Bane, and Jalen Suggs.
