Description
Are we collecting data because it helps us make better clinical decisions, or simply because we feel like we should? Data is essential in ABA, but more data does not automatically lead to better treatment. When data collection becomes overwhelming or disconnected from a clear purpose, it can take valuable time away from teaching.
We’re talking about how to make data collection meaningful, manageable, and useful. We share practical examples of how simple measures like frequency, reminders, or probe data can tell us what we need to know about a learner’s progress without tracking every small detail.
Every data point should have a purpose. Our data should help us determine whether progress is happening, whether a program should continue, or when an intervention needs to change. By keeping data collection simple and explaining the “why” to staff and families, we can reduce overwhelm, improve buy-in, and stay focused on meaningful learner outcomes.
What's Inside:
Why more data does not necessarily mean better treatment
