I had the honor of meeting legendary Hollywood casting executive, talent manager, and ICM agent Andrea Eastman during the final months of her remarkable life. Andrea passed away on August 26, 2026. Just weeks before her passing, I sat down with Andrea in her home for what would become her final filmed interview. Because she was ill, I brought only my iPhone. There were no elaborate cameras or production crew—just Andrea sharing extraordinary stories from a life spent at the center of Hollywood history. As head of casting at Paramount Pictures, Andrea championed Ali MacGraw for "Goodbye, Columbus" and played a pivotal role in "The Godfather," helping James Caan secure the iconic role of Sonny Corleone. Her influence stretched across decades of film and television. Andrea discovered Jaclyn Smith, helped bring Steven Spielberg and Roy Scheider together for "Jaws," managed Sylvester Stallone during the "Rocky" era, and persuaded Rob Reiner to cast Billy Crystal in "When Harry Met Sally." Over the course of her career, Andrea represented or managed some of the biggest names in entertainment, including Barbra Streisand, Burt Reynolds, Dustin Hoffman, Richard Gere, Kim Basinger, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Reeve, Henry Winkler, Kathleen Turner, Elle MacPherson, Katie Couric, and many others. Andrea's passion extended beyond Hollywood. A devoted animal advocate, she established a sanctuary for abused and abandoned horses and dogs and enlisted Robert Redford's help in an effort to protect horses from slaughter. Andrea was tough, determined, fiercely loyal, and never afraid to fight for the people and causes she believed in. As she once told me, "You never take no for an answer." I'm deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to preserve Andrea's memories and stories in her own words.
