DON’T LET THEIR DOUBT BECOME YOURS
What do you do when you’re working hard, developing your skills, and doing everything you can—but your team coaches still don’t seem to trust or believe in you? In this episode, Coach Kally V talks about a struggle many pitchers experience but don't always know how to navigate: feeling overlooked, misunderstood, or underestimated by the coaches making decisions about their playing time. Not every pitcher is the same. Some pitchers win with velocity. Others win with movement, spin, location, pitchability, control, confidence, and the ability to create weak contact. The challenge comes when a coaching approach doesn't recognize or know how to utilize what makes a particular pitcher successful. But here's the most important part: A coach's lack of belief in you does not have to become your belief about yourself. Coach Kally breaks down how pitchers can learn to: Separate coaching feedback from their identity. Continue developing even when they aren't getting the opportunities they want. Recognize and trust their own strengths. Handle criticism without allowing it to destroy their confidence. Focus on what they can control. Keep working toward their goals when they feel overlooked. Understand that one coach, one season, or one difficult experience does not determine their future. Continue pushing toward their dreams—including playing college softball. This episode is especially for the pitcher who has ever thought: “Why don't they believe in me?” “What am I doing wrong?” “Am I good enough?” If that's you, I want you to remember: Their doubt doesn't have to become yours. Your job is not to control everyone else's perception of you. Your job is to keep becoming the pitcher you're capable of becoming. 🎧 Ready for More Personalized Support? REST IS TRAINING: Why More Isn’t Always Better
We hear it all the time in softball: Work harder. Throw more. Get more reps. But what if doing more isn't always what your pitcher needs? In this episode, Coach Kally breaks down one of the most overlooked parts of pitching development: 🥎 REST & RECOVERY. For pitchers, development isn't simply about how much work you can handle. It's about understanding how to manage your workload, recover properly, and give your body the opportunity to adapt to the training you're doing. We'll talk about: 🥎 Why more throwing doesn't automatically mean more development 🥎 Why your total workload matters—not just your pitching lessons 🥎 How practices, games, bullpens, showcases, and additional training all add up 🥎 Why comparing your daughter's training to another pitcher's training can be misleading 🥎 Why mental recovery matters just as much as physical recovery 🥎 How rest can actually help a pitcher develop for the long term 🥎 Why athletes need to communicate when something doesn't feel right 🥎 The difference between working hard and learning how to work intelligently Most importantly, Coach Kally challenges pitchers to stop viewing rest as falling behind. Rest isn't taking you away from your goals. Rest is part of how you get there. The goal isn't to create a pitcher who can survive one season. The goal is to develop a pitcher who understands how to: Train. Compete. Recover. Adapt. …and continue developing for years. 🥎 READY TO TRAIN WITH ME? Why Perfection Holds Your Pitcher Back: The Mindset Every Softball Parent & Pitcher Need to Hear
If you're a softball pitcher or the parent of one, this episode is for you. Have you ever watched your pitcher throw one bad pitch... and suddenly it feels like she's lost all confidence? Maybe she overthinks every bullpen, gets frustrated when she isn't perfect, lets one mistake snowball into an entire inning, or even avoids pitching altogether because she's afraid to fail. After nearly 30 years of coaching softball pitchers, I can tell you this: Perfectionism is one of the biggest obstacles keeping talented pitchers from reaching their full potential. In this episode, I'll share why chasing the "perfect pitch" is actually holding your daughter back and what she should focus on instead. In this episode, we'll cover: 🥎 Why perfectionism destroys confidence 🥎 How to recognize when your pitcher is overthinking 🥎 What parents can do to encourage growth instead of pressure 🥎 What elite pitchers do differently after mistakes 🥎 Why resilience—not perfection—is what separates great pitchers 🥎 Practical strategies to help your pitcher compete with more confidence and freedom The truth is simple: The best pitchers aren't perfect. They're resilient. They trust their preparation, embrace the process, and compete one pitch at a time. If your daughter struggles with confidence, inconsistency, or the fear of making mistakes, this episode will give you both a fresh perspective on what it really takes to develop into a confident, successful pitcher. 🥎 Ready to Train with Me?
