How Critical Thinking Shapes Faith, Voting, And Culture In Texas

A bad sunburn from a buzz cut turns into a surprisingly serious question: how often do we ignore good advice, then act shocked by the consequences? We start there and build toward something bigger, using Texas politics as the test case for wisdom, critical thinking, and the temptation to outsource our beliefs to whichever “team” we’re cheering for. If you care about faith, culture, and voting with discernment, this conversation is designed to sharpen your instincts and your arguments.  We dig into why so many voters, including conservatives, struggle to explain what they believe and why humility is not weakness when the truth is on the line. We also walk through real-time campaign messaging, including questions swirling around James Talarico’s time off the trail and a separate deep dive into Rep. Vicente Gonzalez’s campaign ad claims versus his actual votes tied to the Equality Act and policies involving puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and procedures for minors. The point is not “gotcha” politics. It’s media literacy and accountability when slogans collide with records.  Then we shift to solutions and community. Marine Corps veteran John Keyes joins us to tell the story behind Guns Out TV, how responsible civilian gun ownership can change minds, and why a first range trip depends on the right mentor. He also previews Freedom Fest at Staccato Ranch near Austin and the We The Free streaming platform built to survive online censorship. We close with Harris County election priorities with GOP chair Cindy Siegel, plus why down-ballot judicial races, commissioners, and property taxes hit your life faster than Washington ever will.  ************************************************ Listen every day to our strong conservative programs on Patriot Talk 920 AM.  Tune-in on your radio in Houston to KYST 920 AM or download our app by visiting 920app.com or search for "Patriot Talk 920" from your app store!
