Local Government Scandals Keep Piling Up In Greater Houston

Fort Bend County is making headlines for all the wrong reasons, and we unpack why it matters to anyone who pays taxes, votes locally, or thinks “it can’t happen here.” I walk through the allegations surrounding the Fort Bend County Tax Assessor-Collector, including claims of payroll fraud, county-paid caregiving, remote-work questions, and even alleged kickbacks. Then we layer in a separate, unrelated arrest of another county official, because the real story is bigger than one case: what happens when local accountability gets lazy.  Next, we shift to Texas elections and turnout. We talk about a controversial voter guide released by Care Action and what political endorsements can signal about coalition building, priorities, and down-ballot influence. In our weekly local recap, Charles Blain joins me to break down Houston City Hall stories that most people miss, including proposed tax abatement rules, new restrictions aimed at gas station placement, the latest on Carla Wyatt’s crash fallout, and what early voting numbers in Harris County might mean for competitive districts.  We also hit major public safety headlines, including an alleged ISIS-inspired assassination plot in North Texas and a Northwest Harris County crash during an ICE pursuit, cutting through the noise to focus on the reported facts. Finally, Marine veteran Luis Martinez Jr. joins me to explain the Whiskey Valor Foundation’s unique approach to veteran support: DUI prevention resources, ride vouchers, and no-cost wellness retreats that meet service members where they are. ************************************************ Listen every day to our strong conservative programs on Patriot Talk 920 AM.  Tune-in on your radio in Houston to KYST 920 AM or download our app by visiting 920app.com or search for "Patriot Talk 920" from your app store!
