Description
Episode 3 of The Love Chapter picks up where Father Reid left off, and this time he gets into what love actually looks like.
He starts with a review of verses 1-3. Tongues, prophecy, big faith, giving it all away? Without love, none of it counts. Then he goes through the different Greek words for love (phileo, storge, eros, and agape) and why agape is the one Paul is talking about.
Then we get into “love is patient and kind.” Often, we’re impatient because somebody messed up our schedule, or something personal like that, so it’s really about us. Kindness is the active side of it, and Father Reid makes a point that kind and nice aren’t the same thing. A nice person won’t tell you the hard stuff. A kind person will, and they’ll say it in a way you can actually hear.
Love doesn’t envy, boast, act arrogant or rude, or insist on its own way. Father Reid talks about how envy and pride can wreck a marriage, a family, or a whole church, and why being honest with yourself is where change begins. He also brings in Romans 2:4, that God’s kindness is what leads us to repentance, and that’s the same kindness we’re supposed to show other people.
