In this episode we explore why people pleasing is detrimental to one's wellbeing when not aligned with our own values, and what simple measures we can take to stop doing it.  --- Somewhat linked to this, the following post seemed to grab some attention on The Much Better You podcast facebook discussion group, so may resonate with you also: "While many will wish they could change their lives for the better, they will not.  For change requires courage - a willingness to step into the unknown, to be judged and to risk failure whatever ‘failure’ means to them.  Far easier to stick with the status quo - for even if life is mediocre at best, at least it’s safe and predictable.  Far easier to have excuses: I don’t have time, I’m not good enough, ‘once X happens, only then will I be able to do Y’, etc.  Nonsense. Even if others buy your excuses, deep down, you will always know you’re full of s**t. So, you’ll think less of yourself. Most prefer chronic disappointment to uncertain growth. But what if failure is not such a bad thing after all?  What if it’s a wonderful teacher?  What if you can honestly say to yourself: hell, at least I tried. Maybe I can try again?  Maybe I can try something else? Trying builds character, resilience, self-belief and more data on what may work the next time.
