Peaches, Poker & the Amish: The Art of Being Underestimated

Sherry—better known at the table as “Peaches”—joins The Overlay to share how her sons introduced her to poker in her late 40s and created a monster. A founding member of the Women’s Poker Association, Peaches talks about advocating for women in the game, traveling the country in search of legal poker, why no-limit hold’em remains her game of choice, and the mixed game she wants to tackle next. Then come the stories: two young Amish admirers, a handwritten hotel-room invitation, and a poker table already in on the joke. Peaches also explains how she once convinced an entire cash table she was a complete beginner—then quietly left with nearly $4,000. It’s a funny, candid conversation about community, confidence, and the profitable art of being underestimated.
