The Psych Myke Show

In today's discussion, I delve into the topic of how culture shapes our perspectives on mental health, accompanied by my esteemed guest, Ms. Grace, founder of 'Stitching the Mind.' Together, we explore the profound impact of cultural influences, as Grace shares her insightful views on how different cultures often give rise to stigmas surrounding mental health. Our conversation revolves around the significance of acknowledging and understanding cultural perspectives while evaluating mental well-being. Drawing from her experiences traveling the world, Grace brings a unique lens to the conversation, encouraging us to reevaluate our preconceived notions. Her global adventures have allowed her to gain valuable insights, opening our minds to new perspectives and offering the potential for transformative shifts in our understanding of mental health. Please remember our thoughts are from an etic point of view and do not represent the true beliefs of the cultures from the various countries we discuss today. Today's episode is all about motivation. What keeps you going when times get hard? How do you gain a sense of control when life feels out of control? I sat down with graduate student and close friend Roy Mitchell to talk about his motivators that help him as he pursues his doctorate degree. We also provide our take on motivation from a psychological stand point.
