Behind closed doors, people are fighting battles that the world knows absolutely nothing about. Some are suffering in silence, protecting the very people who are hurting them. Others are trying to understand how someone who claims to love them could also be the person they fear the most. And domestic violence doesn't discriminate. 💜 It happens in heterosexual relationships, LGBTQ+ relationships, marriages, families, and communities where silence is often mistaken for loyalty. In this powerful episode, Mr. Hood opens the conversation about emotional manipulation, physical abuse, psychological control, intimidation, isolation, and the painful reality of loving someone who is hurting you. We're asking some uncomfortable but necessary questions: When does love become control? Why do we sometimes protect the people who hurt us? Because being seen is not the same thing as being known. Who knows what your silence means? Who can hear “I’m good” and know to ask again? Who still wants to be around when you’re not entertaining, fixing, providing, inspiring, or pretending everything is fine? Mr. Hood gets into: The difference between having a public image and having a real support system Why the “strong friend” still needs somewhere to exhale Friendships built around activities versus friendships that can survive an honest conversation Privacy, trust, and why opening up does not mean giving everybody access to you Why men need room for closeness, affection, and friendship without everything becoming sexual How family and friends can get so attached to an old version of you that they forget to ask who you are now And sometimes we have to check our own side of the door too. We can’t say nobody knows us while answering every serious question with, “I’m good. Just chilling.” You don’t have to turn your pain into content. You don’t owe everybody your private life. But everybody deserves at least one place where they don’t have to arrive impressive.
