EP. 68 - How to Heal Your Past and Discover Your Identity in Christ

What if the pain, shame, and insecurity you've carried for years are keeping you from experiencing the fullness of God's love? In this episode of The Radical Middle Podcast, Tommy Nixon explores the Caverns of Identity, the deep and often painful places within our souls where past wounds, shame, and false beliefs about our worth can shape how we relate to God and others. Drawing from his own journey of healing from childhood abandonment, Tommy shares how unresolved pain can lead us to strive for approval, work to prove our worth, and even turn our relationship with God into an endless pursuit of acceptance. Through honest conversations with God and the truth of Scripture, he discovers a life-changing reality: God's love is not something we have to earn. Tommy unpacks the difference between guilt and shame, explains why healing is an ongoing journey, and offers a practical framework for confronting painful emotions, replacing lies with God's truth, inviting trusted people into the process, and learning to receive the love and acceptance already offered through Jesus. In this episode, you'll discover: How childhood wounds can influence your identity and relationships. The difference between guilt and shame, and how each affects your spiritual life. Why striving for God's approval can keep you from experiencing His love. How to bring God's truth into the painful places you've been avoiding. Practical steps toward healing through Scripture, community, counseling, and honest reflection. You don't have to hide your struggles or earn your worth. Join Tommy as he invites you to embrace the difficult work of spiritual growth, experience the healing power of the gospel, and become who God created you to be. The journey into the caverns of your identity may be difficult, but you don't have to walk it alone. Support the show & Follow Us ✅  Instagram ✅  Twitter ✅  TikTok
