Tkachuk Reunion in Florida, Oilers Signings. Plus: Babcock, Hellebuyck, Robertson, Raddysh and more!

The NHL offseason kicked into overdrive as Brady Tkachuk was dealt to the Florida Panthers, creating a family reunion with brother Matthew while leaving the Senators armed with a haul of draft picks but little immediate help. The move reignited discussion about top American players leaving Canadian markets, a trend also reflected in Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck situation as the Jets search for help down the middle and on defence. In Edmonton, the Oilers locked up trade-deadline acquisitions Connor Murphy and Jason Dickinson to long-term deals while appearing poised to hire Mike Babcock, raising questions about whether a coach whose challenge in Toronto was getting the Leafs into the playoffs can now help a contender take the final step. Elsewhere, Jason Robertson’s contract talks in Dallas appear headed toward a crossroads, Buffalo continues to weigh its options involving Bowen Byram and Alex Tuch, and Toronto made a bold bet by acquiring and signing Darren Raddysh to a lengthy extension while trade speculation surrounding Matthew Knies continues despite questions about how moving a player of his calibre would actually improve the Leafs in their current situation.
