Practical Magic 2 Review & Last Scene on Apple TV+

Practical Magic 2 and Apple TV+ thriller Last Scene are in the Screening Lounge this week. Danielle and Christy revisit the Owens family and the legacy of Practical Magic, then break down Last Scene, a mystery about a missing daughter and a father who may have found a clue that she's still alive. The Practical Magic sequel delivers plenty of heart, magic and familiar faces, while Last Scene takes a slower approach to a familiar missing-child mystery. Danielle and Christy break down what works, what falls short and whether either one deserves a spot on your watch list. Highlights Practical Magic 2 Sally’s daughters Kylie and Antonia are introduced as the next generation of the Owens family, but their sisterly connection feels underdeveloped. The generational curse returns, raising questions about love, family, magic and whether the Owens women can finally break the cycle. Lee Pace brings a very different performance to the movie after his role as Brother Day in Foundation. Midnight Margaritas, Aunt Jet and the Owens family bond bring plenty of nostalgia—but Danielle and Kristy discuss where the sequel misses the original’s magic. Last Scene Apple TV+’s new thriller follows former detective Ian Riley after his daughter Maggie disappears without a trace. A distress call from a teenage girl who may be Maggie gives Ian a reason to believe his daughter could still be alive. The mysterious Sarah and her isolated family add another layer to the question of what happened to Maggie. After two episodes, Danielle and Kristy weigh the familiar story, slow pacing and performances to decide whether Last Scene is worth continuing. 00:54 — Practical Magic 2 Review 14:50 — Last Scene Review Love movie podcasts, reviews, and insider film news?
