Candy opinions get weirdly intense the moment Halloween shows up in the store aisle, so we decided to stop pretending and put the whole trick-or-treat bucket on trial. We’re talking worst Halloween candy, the stuff people hand out like it’s a clearance dump, and the treats that make you feel personally wronged as a kid. Yes, candy corn is the main defendant, and no, we are not taking plea deals.  We run through the classics that start arguments at every party: black licorice, Dots, tiny Tootsie Rolls, peanut butter taffy in the orange-and-black wrappers, Mary Jane candy, and those old-timey picks that feel like they came from a different century. Then we draw battle lines over mint chocolate, coconut bars like Mounds and Almond Joy, and caramel candies that require you to commit to a full jaw workout.
