942: Our Stories Deserve to Be Seen With Sheena Yap Chan

OCT 6, 202610 MIN

Description

In this episode of The Tao of Self-Confidence, I share the story of how I almost said no to writing my first book with Wiley because I didn’t think I was good enough or even saw myself as the “poster child” for leadership. I also talk about growing up Filipino-Chinese in Canada, the lack of representation I experienced, and how cultural values like working hard, staying humble, and keeping your head down can sometimes unintentionally keep us invisible. Now, being in the Philippines, I see so much untapped potential and it makes me wonder what could happen if more Filipinos recognized, trusted, and acted on their own capability and potential. This episode is a reminder that we can honor where we come from while unlearning the beliefs that no longer serve us. Our stories matter. Our voices matter. And as we celebrate the Filipinos who came before us, we also have to remember that we are still creating history today.
