TPH 214: Payton Grimes

A conversation with Payton Grimes, a PRS and NRL Hunter competitor and two-time rimfire and centerfire world championship medalist, joined by her mother Rachel. Payton traces her path from a first shooting lesson at 13 through six years of competitive PRS shooting, her growing love of NRL Hunter, and hunts spanning an Ibex retrieved by a hired mountain climber, a one-shot Cape buffalo in Africa, and a helicopter tahr hunt in New Zealand. The conversation also digs into the economics of competitive shooting, entry fees, prize tables, and why PRS's payout structure lags far behind other competitive sports despite the money circulating in adjacent industries.
