Description
A big non-tropical storm off the Southeast coast turned a Bahamas cruise into a trip to Halifax this weekend, and a Bermuda cruise into a night in Canada where guests can't even get off the ship, so this is the Monday cruise update to hear before your next East Coast sailing.
In this Wander With Milford cruise update, Milford explains what the National Hurricane Center is saying about the storm, how Oasis of the Seas and Vision of the Seas were rerouted, exactly what Royal Caribbean is giving guests in onboard and future cruise credit, and simple ways to protect your plans when an itinerary changes the night before you board.
You'll also hear about Trudy's fade-out and Brilliant Lady's fourth straight reroute, a new Pacific disturbance with a high chance of becoming a tropical depression, the deals that end today and this week, Disney Believe opening to everyone (minus the sold-out maiden voyage), and onboard changes coming from Carnival and Disney.
This week's updates include:
• Atlantic: no named storms as of the NHC's 8 a.m. ET outlook, but a storm-force non-tropical low off the Southeast coast has a near-0% chance within 48 hours and a 40% chance within 7 days of briefly turning subtropical midweek or later, with high winds, coastal flooding and dangerous surf expected along parts of the East Coast
• Oasis of the Seas' October 18 Cape Liberty sailing dropped Port Canaveral, CocoCay and Nassau for one full-day Halifax call (6 p.m. Oct 20 to 6 p.m. Oct 21), with $200 to $600 per person in onboard credit and a 50% future cruise credit
• Vision of the Seas swapped Bermuda for an overnight in Saint John, New Brunswick with no going ashore, and $75 to $200 per cabin in non-refundable onboard credit
• Trudy is a 60 mph tropical storm about 190 miles west-southwest of Cabo Corrientes as of the NHC's 8 a.m. MT advisory, with no coastal warnings, and should be post-tropical by early Tuesday
• Brilliant Lady's October 17 sailing traded the Mexican Riviera for San Francisco, San Diego and Ensenada, its fourth straight weather-disrupted sailing
• A disturbance south of Guatemala now has a 50% chance of becoming a tropical depression within 48 hours and 90% within 7 days, with a depression expected around midweek
• Celebrity's up-to-$800 savings window and Carnival's Military Early Saver end today, October 19
• Royal Caribbean's onboard flash sale ends October 20; its Short Getaway deals and Norwegian's up-to-$750 off balcony and above run through October 22
• Margaritaville at Sea's 65% Black Friday early access runs through November 3
• Disney Believe opened to everyone this morning at 8 a.m. ET; the December 18, 2027 maiden voyage from Port Everglades sold out in early booking, but the other 28 inaugural sailings were open
• Carnival moves drink packages and Wi-Fi to dynamic pricing December 1; FunPacks are on sale through October 30
• Disney ends Palo's prix-fixe dinner menu starting October 22; Platinum and Pearl members keep a $55 dinner-only credit
