Description
Why “Everything Looks Fine” Isn’t the End of the Story
You've had the blood tests.
You've had the scans.
Your partner's had his sperm tested.
And then you hear those words:
“Everything looks normal.”
For a moment, perhaps you feel relieved.
But then comes the question you can't get out of your head:
“If everything is normal, why am I still not pregnant?”
In this episode of The Wright Way to Natural Fertility, we're exploring one of the most important ideas behind the way I work:
Normal isn't necessarily the same as optimal.
A test result within the expected range can give us valuable information, but it's still only one piece of a much bigger fertility picture.
Because you are more than your hormone panel.
In this episode, we explore:
What “normal” actually means when we're talking about fertility and health
Why being within a reference range doesn't necessarily tell us how well you're functioning as a whole
The difference between something being common and being optimal
Why I see symptoms as information rather than something to simply ignore
What your periods can potentially tell us about your wider health
Why painful periods, spotting, clots, PMS, poor sleep, low energy and digestive symptoms deserve our curiosity
Why your story can give us information that won't necessarily appear on a blood test
How my own experience of miscarriage and homeopathy completely changed the way I looked at my health
Why I use an individualised approach to homeopathy rather than looking for a generic “fertility remedy”
Why two women with the same diagnosis of unexplained infertility may need completely different support
And why optimal absolutely does not mean perfect
Your body gives us clues
One of the places I love to start is with your menstrual cycle.
How long is it?
Is it consistent?
What's happening around ovulation?
Do you spot before your period?
Is there pain?
Are there clots?
How heavy is the bleeding?
How do you feel physically and emotionally throughout your cycle?
Instead of seeing your period only as the disappointing announcement that you're not pregnant again this month, what if we also saw it as information?
Your body giving us clues.
Why homeopathy changed the conversation for me
After my miscarriages, there wasn't a neat medical explanation for what had happened.
As a former accountant, I desperately wanted one.
Give me the numbers. Give me the problem. Give me the solution. I'll sort it.
Except fertility doesn't always work like that.
With homeopathy, the conversation was different.
It became:
“Tell me about you.”
My periods. My health. My energy. My emotions. My stress. What I'd been through and what was happening in my life.
Homeopathy became a hugely important part of my own journey. My periods changed, my general health improved and I felt more balanced physically and emotionally.
Six months after my third miscarriage, I conceived my son.
That experience ultimately led me to ask a question that still influences how I work today:
What if, instead of waiting for something to become sufficiently wrong to diagnose, we started listening to the smaller signs our bodies give us along the way?
Optimal doesn't mean perfect
And before my high-achieving listeners start creating another spreadsheet...
Period: optimise.
Sleep: optimise.
Gut: optimise.
Hormones: optimise.
Stress: optimise.
Buy twelve supplements.
Remove every piece of plastic from the house.
Be in bed by nine.
NO!
This isn't another fertility project you have to manage perfectly.
Pregnancy happens in imperfect bodies every day.
We're simply asking:
Where could my body use a little more support?
So if you've been told everything looks normal but something inside you is still saying, “There has to be more to this,” perhaps it's time to approach your body with curiosity rather than criticism.
Instead of asking:
“What is wrong with me?”
try asking:
“What does my body need to function at its best?”
Because fertility isn't only about your ovaries, your AMH or whether you ovulated on day 14.
It's about you.
The whole woman.
And that's exactly where I believe fertility care should begin.
Nurture your mind. Nourish your body. Conceive with confidence.
