Description
Welcome to Ep 168 of the Think UDL Podcast: Curriculum Storyboards with Maureen Ruby and Kimberly Hellerich. Maureen Ruby is the Isabelle Farrington Endowed Chair of Social, Emotional and Academic Leadership and Associate Professor and Kimberly Hellerich is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Educational Leadership in the Department of Educational Leadership at Sacred Heart University. I was able to hear about their topic, curriculum storyboards, at Goodwin University’s UDL conference recently, a fabulous annual conference focussed specifically on UDL in Higher Education. I was very interested in the ways that these storyboards match up with so many UDL guidelines to engage college students and help make a college course understandable especially to first time students. In today’s conversation, we discuss what curriculum storyboards are and the problem of practice that they solve for novice learners in a discipline or course, how UDL connects to them and how neuroscience underpins these storyboards. You’ll also find several visual references in the resources for this episode and how you can do this yourself!
