Faith, the Apostle Paul explains, is simply taking God at His Word—trusting that what He promises, He performs. We are reminded in this teaching that Abraham was justified not by works but by believing God, and in the same way our faith in Christ’s death and resurrection is counted for righteousness apart from any human effort. True faith rests in God’s power to give life to the dead and to save the ungodly purely by grace.
