Ian hails from Berwick-Upon-Tweed, the northernmost city in England, just across the Scotland border. The Northumberland town has changed hands between England and Scotland multiple times over centuries, resulting in a hybrid culture (and accent!) As an adult, Ian consistently crossed borders for work and pleasure. He's made over 20 visits to the US, toured extensively throughout Europe, and even made it Down Under to Australia and New Zealand. Now retired and volunteering at his local dog shelter, Ian continues to travel, and recently returned from a cruise around Spain. Change is something that Chloe Kelly finds quite familiar. Growing up in England, Chloe never felt completely comfortable, no matter how many different careers, homes, or relationships she tried on for size- a situation that led down the dark path of addiction and depression. It wasn’t until she made the decision at 45 to transition to female, that Chloe finally began to see light at the end of the tunnel. And with her rebirth, she decided that travel was going to play a major role. She left a 25-year corporate career and started traveling solo. Over the last few years, she’s traveled throughout Europe, Central Asia, and beyond. She currently lives in Buenos Aires while writing her travel memoir. We chat about why travel became so important to her after transitioning, what it’s like traveling as a trans woman, and the places and experiences that have affected her the most.
