Description
In October 2015, 18-year-old Ebby Steppach disappeared in Little Rock, Arkansas, after making a confusing phone call to her brother. Days later, her abandoned car was discovered at Chalamont Park, with her phone, purse and personal belongings still inside.
For more than two years, Ebby's family searched for answers while questions grew about how the investigation had been handled. Reports of an unusual smell near a storm drain had not led to the discovery of her whereabouts, and investigators later acknowledged that important leads had been overlooked.
In 2018, a renewed search of the park's underground drainage system uncovered Ebby's remains inside a pipe, approximately 60 feet from where her car had been found.
Although the discovery answered where Ebby had been, it left significant questions about her final hours and how she ended up inside the drainage system. No one has been charged in connection with her death.
In this episode of True Crime Recaps, Amy examines Ebby Steppach's disappearance, the investigative shortcomings, the discovery that changed the case and the questions that remain unanswered.
