Description
In July 1999, 17-year-old best friends J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett disappeared while driving home from a night out in Dothan, Alabama. Hours later, their car was discovered on a quiet road with both girls inside. What followed was an investigation that would remain unsolved for nearly two decades.
Despite recovering DNA evidence, investigators struggled to identify a suspect. Then advances in genetic genealogy led police to Coley McCraney, a local truck driver and preacher who had never previously been linked to the case.
In this episode of True Crime Recaps, Amy examines the disappearance of J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett, the evidence that eventually identified McCraney, the conflicting accounts presented during his trial, and the conviction that brought a long-awaited conclusion to the case.
