Description
Can dogs talk? That’s what Silas wants to know. We’re going beyond the bark to discover a new technology that is enabling dogs to “talk,” and a scientist who’s determined to find out if the effect is real.
Dog owners are training their dogs to use “soundboards” – a collection of buttons with different words recorded on each one. Watch a video of a dog pressing buttons to respond to their owner’s questions, and you might be convinced! But Amalia Bastos, who studies animal communication, was skeptical. She set up a series of experiments to figure out if dogs can really understand what they’re hearing and “saying” – or if they’re just very well trained, very good dogs. So do the dogs pass Amalia’s “talking” tests? Listen to find out!
