Then came the internet. Just days before leaving her job, Nevada posted a TikTok that went viral with more than three million views. That moment helped her realize that maybe being fully herself online was not something to fear. She began documenting her breakup, dating, fitness journey, and life as a single woman in her late 20s on the Central Coast. One video asking what to do with a jar of love notes from her ex eventually inspired a community bonfire in Grover Beach, where strangers came together to symbolically let go of their own baggage. From there, Nevada started building something bigger. She began producing community events, live dating shows, comedy nights, and social experiences designed around a question a lot of people around here have probably asked themselves: where are all the single people? The Creston Women’s Club uses fundraising like this to support scholarships, youth programs, senior support, community events, and direct assistance for local residents. In the interview, Lisa and Alex also talk about the special sense of community that makes Creston feel unlike anywhere else on the Central Coast. Andrew takes Adam inside the music itself, from the famously exposed opening bassoon solo to the irregular rhythms, enormous orchestral forces, and sheer physical intensity that make The Rite of Spring such a challenge to perform and conduct. He also explains why this piece still feels so modern more than a century after its 1913 premiere, what a conductor is actually doing when the orchestra is moving through passages this complex, and why hearing this work live in San Luis Obispo is such a rare opportunity.
