Description
In this episode of WTR Around Town, we’re at Blood Cancer United’s Light The Night event, where our community joined forces to celebrate, honor, and remember all those whose lives have been touched by blood cancer. Held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Playland Park in Rye, NY, the gathering brought together families, friends, local sponsors, and community partners for an unforgettable evening of unity, bringing a powerful light to the darkness of cancer. Take a listen as we share highlights from the event and discuss the incredible real-world impact of the event—from funding life-saving research initiatives around the globe to providing free patient support services and advocating for quality, affordable, coordinated care for families when they need it most.
Westchester Talk Radio host Susan Browning spoke with Michael Haberman, president of Rock East Funding, who serves on the board of Blood Cancer United. Michael shared that he walks with his team, "Haberman's Heroes," in memory of his mother, father, and uncle, who all passed away from leukemia. Having raised over $200,000 with his team since 2018, he emphasized the vital role the organization plays in funding research, advancing treatments, and bringing families together to turn loss into hope.
