Description
"He bought his first pharmacy in 1968 with $200 cash and a borrowed car. Nearly six decades later, Jeff Leach is still fighting for men's health, one PSA test at a time."
Jeff Leach built a career from nothing, cycling door to door as a teenager until a pharmacist gave him his first apprenticeship for three pounds and fourteen shillings a week.
He went on to found Friendly's Chemist, one of WA's first pharmacy franchises, before his own cancer scare and the loss of his brother pulled him into a very different kind of work: making sure fewer men die unnecessarily from a disease that's now hitting one in five.
In this episode, we talk about:💊 From paper rounds in Carlisle to buying his first pharmacy with $200 and a borrowed car🏥 How the pharmacy industry has changed, from independent chemists to franchise giants like Chemist Warehouse📊 Why prostate cancer now affects one in five men, and the case for targeting awareness campaigns at women🩺 His own diagnosis, his brother's death, and how both led him to Prost🤝 Why the coffee after exercise matters as much as the exercise itself, and what only other men who've been through it can offer each other🌏 How New Zealand now fully funds prostate cancer exercise groups nationally, while Australia lags behind🎯 Jeff's goal to see Prost available to every man who needs it, nationally and internationally
This is a conversation about business, mortality, and what it takes to build something that outlasts you.
Whether you're in pharmacy, know someone facing a cancer diagnosis, or just want to understand why early testing matters so much, this episode has something worth hearing.
