Description
In this episode of Where Hope Begins, host Kai follows a story that starts in North Carolina and reaches more than 5,000 miles to Romania. Adriana Henderson was born in Romania and came to the United States at 18. In 2000 she founded S.T.A.R. Children Relief (Start Thinking About Romania) to help orphaned, abandoned, and disabled children. Her work later grew to include children with hemophilia, and it led to Camp Ray of Hope, an award-winning summer camp where Romanian kids can swim, play, make friends, and learn to manage their condition.
Adriana is joined by Daniel Andrei, President of the Romanian Hemophilia Association. Daniel grew up with hemophilia at a time when treatment in Romania was scarce. Together they talk about how their partnership began, what life with hemophilia in Romania looks like today, and how Save One Life sponsorships help families with much more than medication. Adriana also reads a moving letter from a former camper who became a doctor.
